I absolutely loved this second chance romance, as well as the main characters Adam and Olivia! This book has a sexy storyline that will grab your attention and hold it until you have read the very last word on the last page. I could not put it down, one click and see how awesome the story is for yourself. Now I am hoping Lorraine will also get a story.
I enjoyed reading this book.The characters were well developed and compelling. The writing flowed easily and effortless. The lovemaking was off the charts,proving that first love can developed in a lasting and strong that will last. I remember how evil high school could be and was happy to see that good over comes evil. Overall this is an outstanding book.
5 STARS FOR PROM KING!! Loved this feel good story!! Olivia and Adam get a second chance and it is sweet sexy story that will put a smile on your face. These two have obstacles to overcome, it was fun to watch it play out.
This was such a sweet sexy spin on the good guy prom king falling for the unpopular nerd girl. Adam and Ollie were fun, spicy, and oh so sexy. He gets himself into a hot mess with the popular mean girl but it’s a big win in the end to see her lose out.
I love Penny's books but this one was just okay. Adam just did not do it for me. He's not the typical Alpha male in her books that I have come to love. This guy is just nice and average. The situation Adam is in and trying to get out of and how he handles it for so long again makes you think he's just nice. Not the Alpha Male. Because of him I thought the story was okay. I didn't think the characters really connected with me or each other and were off the charts hot like her other books. Especially Big Man. Now that was off the charts HOT. It just seems like after 10 years and you see each other again all those feelings come back? Kind of hard to believe after so long.
However, there was extensive negative history between the characters that should have made it hard for them. Since this is an insta-love book the drama is skimmed over like a Zamboni on ice.

Bullying, slut-shaming, stalking, blackmail and using a fake pregnancy/miscarriage are used entirely by one villain character here to give this story its plot. Then it’s glossed over ridiculously easily with barely any acknowledgement. It just wasn’t enough of a resolution for my satisfaction.

The female lead was described as nerdy and that was nearly the sole grounds for being harassed her whole life. I would say she was more weak and a perpetual victim and not very likable. She never spoke up! Her friend and the male lead did it all for her. She did nothing to protect or defend herself. She was that way in high school and as an adult. She never grew out of it. That’s what I found unlikable.

The male lead is an odd story. If you like one girl and you “witness” multiple acts of aggression towards her by the villain how the h e l l do you continue talking to the villain let alone allow them to talk you into a fake relationship for almost ten years?!?! I can not wrap my head around that kind of reasoning. He was written so sweetly but that story twist made absolutely no sense.

I mean come on, these were “adult” years. Not the high school part of his life. And if you are stupid enough to randomly get caught up in some nonsense like this it would only be for a few months. But ten f@$king years!?! You’re TSTL! No man is in a fake relationship for ten years and not having sex with them. Let’s be real. Smh

There’s no “fake” in something that lasts ten years. It’s a relationship, a s h i t t y one, but still a relationship. Which I’ve seen all too often in reality when people are afraid of being alone. Not something I want to read about. Or I’d read a different kind of romance book instead of an insta-love HEA, short story like this.

I like this author but nearly every book makes me cringe with the crazy, awkward, wrenching scenarios she writes. I think the "cringing" is why I keep buying her books, lol.
Prom King was a stand alone by Penny Wylder. I’m a sucker for a second chance story.

Olivia “Ollie” Mitchell was the object of many “mean girl” pranks in high school, but all from the same popular girl. She was humiliated beyond any imagination but rose above it in her young adult years. Her bestie talked her into going to her ten year high school reunion since years had passed.

Adam Carlisle was popular in high school, gorgeous, a basketball star and an all around good guy most of the time. He crushed on Ollie but never got the chance to act on it until the reunion.

I loved the second chance theme but I struggled with some of the plot. Not because it wasn’t well written - it was - but because I hated the “mean girl” circumstances that continued even into adulthood. I had a hard time believing the circumstances.

In the end, it was a quick, steamy and entertaining read. I would love to see Lorraine’s story next....
